Promoting right livelihood through bioregional tree crops.
Fats from hickory and hazelnut oils, carbs from chestnut and acorn flour, sweeteners from syrups and honeylocusts, medicines from elderberries and others, fibers from woods like black locusts and persimmons. These are just some of the tree crops we’re working with and inspired by.
Tree crops are highly nutritious and address issues in conservation, climate change, food security, and land justice.
Our purpose is to unite Mid-Atlantic tree crop Growers, Gatherers, Processors, Distributors, and Enjoyers in common cause and mutual benefit.
Our first step is a cooperatively-owned oilpress, to produce hickory oil and hazelnut oil from wild and cultivated trees in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic.
