Benefits of Producer Membership

  • You can sell your tree crops to KTCC at a fair price. KTCC handles aggregating, processing, branding, and selling.

  • Opportunity to vote when the cooperative is making key decisions, including KTCC Board elections.

  • Access to a network of like-minded collaborators for sharing knowledge, equipment, ideas, and support.

  • Opportunity to rent equipment such as harvesters and sorters from the co-op or other members at a nominal fee. As of this time, we have a Hasatsan vacuum harvester for harvesting various nuts and dehusking hazelnuts and chestnuts..

  • Assistance from the co-op with coordinating labor for harvests and other activities that would benefit from additional hands.

  • Priority access to educational and training programs offered by the cooperative.

  • Patronage (cash dividends) from the cooperative (when the cooperative becomes fully operational and profitable.)

  • Option to purchase processed products that were made using only your crops (such as oil), and resell them using your own label (this option requires that the cooperative’s info is displayed on the label for compliance with food safety regulations).

Become a Member

KTCC is looking for Producer Members. If you currently grow, forage, or are interested in producing tree crops including chestnuts, hickory nuts, hazelnuts, and others, and live or operate in PA, NJ, MD, NY, OH, or WV, you are eligible to be a Producer Member. Once the co-op reaches a certain size and we’re able to hire employees to help process products, as well as produce quantities of products that can be sold wholesale, we’ll begin to recruit Worker and Wholesaler members in addition to Producer members.
